Georges Daoud, 68 of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, with Fr. Fred Shaheen presiding, located at 3650 Cottage Grove SE. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where there will be a 7 p.m. Trisagion service. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements.

Georges was born May 3, 1943 in Ain Arab, Lebanon, the son of Elias and Josephine (Shadid) Daoud. He married Joyce Tiedemann in Grinnell in 1971 and later divorced after over 30 years of marriage. To this union four children were born. He married Salam Bechalany in 2005 in Lebanon.

Georges enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1974. He worked at Quaker Oats for over 30 years. Georges enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He loved touching people's lives with his helping hands.

Georges is survived by his mother, Josephine Daoud; wife, Salam Daoud all of Cedar Rapids; children, Georges B. (Dustie) Daoud, Elias S. (Lisa) Daoud II all of Sarcoxie, Missouri, Dyane B. Daoud of South Amana, Victoria A. (Eric) Schultz of Marion; sisters, Ivette (Mike) Ayache of Lebanon, Marli D. Haddy of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Mike (Rima) Daoud of Brazil, Samir (Diana) Daoud of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elias S. Daoud in January of 2000 and his grandparents Salem and Zarife Daoud and Fares and Nagibe Shadid all of Lebanon.
