Jack Davey, 88, of Algiers in New Orleans passed away Sunday October 26, 2014. He was born July 20, 1926 in Alexandra, LA to the late Marian Stephen and Margaret (Dunn) Davey and was raised in West Monroe, LA. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1943 at age 16. An elbow injury kept him out of military service so he attended Louisiana Tech and received a BS in Electrical Engineering at age 19 and went on to receive an MS at Iowa State, with further study at Carnegie Mellon University.

He began his career at Louisiana Power & Light and continued with them for 37 years, first as a Planning manager when LP&L was doubling every five years. His other duties included substation design, transmission protective relaying, and designing lines to withstand direct lightning strikes. His last five years at LP&L was as Chief Engineer. In 1981 he was transferred to Middle South Services (now Entergy) as VP or Planning and Operations. He retired from Middle South (Entergy) in 1985 to become an Electrical Engineering Professor on the Tulane University faculty and continued in the capacity until 1991. His principal research was searching for physiological effects of 60 and 120Hz radiation on humans.

Mr. Davey was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Ritter Davey and his brother Rex Davey. He is survived by his daughter Candace Jean Davey and her daughter Masha Jacquelene Davey, his son Dr. Kent Ritter Davey (Lana) and their children Adrian and Zachary, his brother Paul, and four nieces and three nephews.
