Francis "Frank" W. Davis, 81, went to be with our Lord and his beloved wife, Jeanette, May 19, 2007. Born in Oakfield, N.Y., in 1926, to Gus and Ruby Davis. He owned an Exxon station for many years in Batavia, N.Y. He and his wife made trips to Las Vegas twice a year and in 1976 they bought the Ponderosa Motel in Las Vegas where they made many friends. Frank was an avid golfer and will be remembered around the golf courses of Las Vegas. In recent years, he owned a gift shop in Nevada Palace and later at the Super Eight/Longhorn Casino across the street. He worked a few hours every day with his son, Dan in the shop until he suffered a stroke in August 2006. Even then, with his walker he would sit behind the counter greeting friends and customers. For the past several years he lived with his devoted sister, Phyllis Hilchey here in Las Vegas. They would travel back to Oakfield, N.Y., for a few months in the summer. He enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends and families there. He so loved his family. He is survived by his son, Daniel Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and John DeConinck; granddaughter, Anne DeConinck; grandson, Jack DeConinck (Jennifer) all of Las Vegas. His grandson, Airman Danny Davis is serving in the U.S. Air Force in Korea, after doing his duty in Iraq, for which he was especially proud. Danny recently presented a flag flown on a mission over Iraq to his grandfather. Also surviving are his two precious great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Breanna DeConinck, children of Jack and Jennifer. His entire family were privileged to have said our good-byes at his bedside in his final hours. He passed peacefully in his daughter's arms with his son and granddaughter, Anne at his bedside. Also surviving are many nephews and nieces. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, with funeral service to follow, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123.
