Acena Davis Rites Held

Mrs Acena (Seiss) Davis, of Ambrose, who had been in ill health for a number of years, passed away July 31, 1954.
The deceased was born in Iowa on February, 2, 1870. On March 15, 1889 she was united in marriage to R M Davis at Grand Meadow, Minn. In 1908 they came to Divide County and filed on a homestead in Twin Butte township, south of Ambrose. They were the parents of a daughter and son, Mrs Charlie (Mabel) Myers who passed away several years ago and the son, Ronello Davis, of Ambrose. There are 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. she leaves a sister in Bremerton, Wash, and a niece, Mrs Enoch Anderson of Ambrose. Mr Davis died November 6, 1949.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 4, at the Presbyterian Church in Crosby at 2 o'clock. Rev James Davidson of Portal officiated. Mrs Eddie Swonder, soloist, sang two selections with Mrs O Woolfrey at the organ. Burial was made in the family in Ambrose cemetery. Pallbearers were: Andrew Henning, Charles Hansen, Oscar Haugenoe, Rudie Anderson, Alfred Berg and Harry Thompson. The Jacobson Funeral Home was in charge.
Relatives from a distance attending the funeral included the following grandchildren and families: Mr and Mrs Norman Nelson and daughter of Madison, Wis; Mrs Edmund Chinn and three children of Belleville, Ill; and Mr and Mrs Melzer Davis and children of Beach, North Dakota.
