Corrine Chaske, age 71, of rural Oberon, ND, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.

Corrine (Davis) Chaske was born October 15, 1944, at Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND, the daughter of Peter and Alma T. (Grandboise) Davis. She grew up in the Belcourt area; she then attended the Stephan school, Stephan, SD and also attended the Mayflower school in Maddock, ND, where she graduated in 1964. Corrine was united in marriage to Joseph "Big Joe" Chaske, Jr., on October 3, 1964. She had worked at the Ranch House as a cook, and she was a teacher’s aide at Prairie View Elementary school, both in Devils Lake, ND. Corrine then worked for Sioux Manufacturing Corporation, in Ft. Totten, ND, for 20 years. She was a part-time relief person for the postal office in Ft. Totten, while working at Spirit Lake Casino & Resort in the hotel laundry department as a full time employee where she later retired in 2013.

Corrine enjoyed watching the Sharks Hockey team. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and playing bingo and she enjoyed traveling; Corrine also enjoyed baking for her family.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Deborah (Tony) LaVallie, Oberon, Lisa (Tim) Chaske, St. Michael, Colleen (Gary) Chaske, Oberon, Jolleen (Waylon Sr,) St. Claire, Oberon; 9 grandchildren, Derrick Chaske, Bismarck, Jerah Chaske and Jayden Kraft, St. Michael, Troyal, Tanisha, Tiana, and Taylah Thumb, Ft. Totten, Waylon Jr. & Jaylon St. Claire, Oberon; 7 great-grandchildren, Jerran and Jericho Chaske, Hailen, Troyal Jr, Aspen, and Lathan Thumb, and Brantley Thumb. Her sisters, Caroline (Martin) Chavez, San Jose, CA, Rita (Gerald Fossen) Belgarde, Maddock, Mary McKay, Belcourt, Bernita (Greg) Lonetree, Eagen, MN, Marlene (John) Davis, Belcourt; her brothers: Lloyd (Alice) Davis Sr. and Peter (Harlene) Davis, both of Belcourt; also a sister-in-law, Millicent Little, Devils Lake; and 2 brothers-in-law, Winfield Chaske Sr., Oberon, and John (Ramona) Chaske, Crow Hill.

Corrine was preceded in death by her husband Joseph “Big Joe” Chaske Jr, who died in 1997; her parents Pete and Alma Davis; her sisters Viola Lawrence, Delores Lohnes, Antoinette Ironheart; her grandchildren Jordan Riggle, and Rancee Jo Chaske-Thumb; and her father and mother-in-law, Joseph Chaske Sr. and Marion (Littlewind) Chaske.
