Dorothy Davis was born August 16, 1927 in rural Saint Thomas, ND, the daughter of the late D.A. and Clara (Olson) Davis. She grew up and attended school in Saint Thomas and later attended the University of North Dakota where she earned her degree in Education. She was united in marriage to Lyle Corbit on September 18, 1947 in Saint Thomas. The couple made their home in Grand Forks for a time and then moved to the farm near Saint Thomas. She taught Home Ec. and Science in Saint Thomas for 15 years. She moved into the nursing home in March of 2017.
She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Saint Thomas and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was very active in the church and was involved with the quilting and knitting groups. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, flowers and visits from her grandchildren. She was also an avid Fighting Sioux fan.
She is survived by her children: Diana (Randy) Luten, Little Rock, AR, Jim (Patty) Corbit, Hebron, KY, David (Beth) Corbit, Broken Arrow, OK, and Tom (Kim) Corbit, Wellford, SC and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Saint Thomas. Visitation will be from Monday from 3-5 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Saint Thomas City Cemetery.
