Learned the trade of mason like his Father, he was made a freeman in 1671.

1674 joined Ancient and Honorable Artillery Co where he became a Lt.

1675 signed a petition for protection against the Indians, when war broke out with King Philip, Ambrose joined the Colonial troops and served the winter of 1675.

1692 Abrose received an eye wound at Fort Pemaquid, Maine, sent home and given 10 pounds for being injured.

Sixty years later his son Thomas was given land for his Father's service in this war.

Ambrose lived next door to his father William Dawes on Sudbury St.-
