David L. Dawes, 69, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly August 1, 2016 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. David was born August 14, 1946 in Sandusky, OH to the late Linwood L. and Hazel L. (Eicher) Dawes. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war as a trainer working on the airplanes. David retired from the Conrail Railroad as a conductor and a brake man. After retiring, he began After Hours Karaoke with Dave. David was a lifelong member of Sandusky AMVETS 29, American Legion Post 83 and the Sandusky Eagles 444. David is survived by his daughter, Tamatha (Shannon) Brito of Nocona, TX, grandchildren, Daniel, and Austin, sister, Sharleen (Steve) Howard of Castalia, brothers, Craig Dawes, and Reed (Chris) Dawes both of Sandusky, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends. Visitation will be held August 4, 2016 from 5pm until the time of the memorial service at 7pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky with Pastor Derick Bailey of the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene presiding.
