Carolyn Tettie Austin, 52, of 107 Lincoln St., wife of Edgar Columbus Austin Jr., died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at 10:12 a.m. in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Gaffney, she was the daughter of Estelle Johnson Dawkins and the late Townsend Dawkins Sr. She was a member of Indian Hill Baptist Church and a house mother.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Rebecca Austin and Carolyn Ann Mack of the home; four sons, Ricky Austin of Spartanburg, Michael Austin, Larry Austin, Eddie Austin of the home; two sisters, Annie Austin and Betty J. Santiago of Gaffney; four brothers, Orlean Dawkins of West Germany, Luther Dawkins, Townsend Dawkins Jr. and Eddie Dawkins of Gaffney; 38 grandchildren, four of them, Romona Davidson, Della Dawkins, Charles Santiago and Michael Davison of the home were reared as her children.
