SUFFOLK - Ruth Elizabeth Dawley Beck, 77, died July 7, 2001.
A native of Norfolk, she was born Aug. 25, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Ruth Austin and Caleb Frank Dawley, and was predeceased by a twin brother, Frank Dawley.
Mrs. Beck was a member of Open Door Church in Suffolk and attended Maury High School and served as a crossing guard for seven years at Meadowbrook Elementary School in Norfolk.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Raymond D. Beck; three sons and their wives, David and Judy Beck of Richmond, George and Anne Beck of Chesapeake, and Don Beck of Suffolk; seven grandchildren, David Jr., Mitzi, Donna, Natalie, Michael, Mark and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren, Melissa, Heather, Megan, Courtney, Lindsey, Matthew and David III; and Virginia ''Ginnie'' Crispin of Paradise, Calif., who was like a sister.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Open Door Church by the Rev. Tony Peaks, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home in Suffolk.
