Virgie Bowman went to be with the Lord while residing in Phoenix AZ. She was born in Dardenelle, AR to William B. Dawson and Maggie J. Thurman and grew up in Holdenville, OK. She married Ben E. Bowman on August 21, 1933, and they moved to San Diego area in 1941.

After moving to California, she worked at three aircraft factories, two fish canneries and two grocery stores. She was a longtime resident of Lincoln Acres and a member of Lincoln Acres Community Church for over 50 years. She worked at Hewitt's Market on the corner of Granger Ave. and Ridgeway Dr. from the 50s into the 70s.

She is preceded in death by her husband and survived by her daughters, Carolyn Schneider, Show Low AZ; Jane Yeager, Murrieta, CA; Phyllis George (Leo), Phoenix, AZ, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren, many more from marriage and many loving nieces and nephews.

Service will be held June 4th at 10 a.m. at Humphrey Mortuary, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista. Viewing one hour prior to Service. Interment at La Vista Memorial Park, National City immediately following Service. Published in U-T San Diego on June 2, 2010
