Alan Williams DeCastro, 71 years, died suddenly, on Feb. 20, 2013, in Morton Hospital after being stricken ill at his home.

Born in Dighton, son of the late George and Ora (Chase) DeCastro. He was educated in Taunton Schools and was employed for 43 years by the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project, retiring as Superintendent. Alan was truly a Renaissance Man with very Spiritual values. He was for most of his life a member of the West Congregational Church and for the past ten years he attended the Raynham Congregational Church (Stone Church), in Raynham.

He was extremely patriotic about the United States of America. He was a US history buff, an arborist who cared for his own garden and fruits trees, a Bee Keeper, a wood carver, a poet, an artist who painted in oils, and a Tin Smith. He enjoyed music and the fine arts, boating and especially his family. To them, his family, he was known as “Uncle Al the kiddies Pal”.

He is survived by his wife, Cecelia (Dumin) DeCastro and his two daughters, Gayle Nowak and her husband Greg of Beverly, MA and Diana DeCastro of Taunton. Alan was the beloved grandfather of Hazel and Natasha Nowak. He is the brother of Sandra Slaney, Ginger DeBalk and her husband George and Edward DeCastro all of Taunton. Alan is the brother in law of Joseph Bush and his wife Darleen of GA, James Bush of SC, and Wilfred Dumin and his wife Dorothy of SC and the uncle and cousin of several.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Stone Church, Raynham Center, on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 2PM. Arrangements by the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, MA.
