Mildred Delaney Bloomer, age 94, a lifelong area resident, died on January 16, 2012 at Wingate in Fishkill.
Mrs. Bloomer was a Homemaker and had been employed as a retail salesperson for many years at several Poughkeepsie Department Stores.
She was active as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and volunteered with the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association.
Born September 19, 1917 in Beacon, N.Y., she was the daughter of Charles V. and Mary E. Delaney. Mrs. Bloomer attended Poughkeepsie Schools.
On October 27, 1940 at St. Mary’s Church, Poughkeepsie, she married Kenneth C. Bloomer with whom she spent 53 wonderful years; Mr. Bloomer predeceased her on July 5, 1993.
Survivors include a Son, Robert K. Bloomer of Poughkeepsie; a Daughter, Sheryl A. Wilson and her husband Radcliffe of Fishkill; two Granddaughters, Laurie A. Dora and her husband Wayne of Hamburg, N.J.; Julie A. Wittenberg and her husband Daniel of Thompson Ridge, N.Y.; four Great Grandchildren, Zachery and Emily Dora; and Ryan and Kara Wittenberg; a Sister, Bessie Stelback of Hyde Park and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bloomer was predeceased by a Brother, Charles V. Delaney of Poughkeepsie.
One of Mrs. Bloomer’s greatest joys was spending time with her family especially her Granddaughters and Great Grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, January 19 at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main St., Fishkill. Prayers will be offered at 6:00PM. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
