Eileen Desmond Ahearn, 79, of Portland, formerly of Wallingford and Madison, died at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the wife of Donald R. Ahearn, Sr.
Born in Meriden, CT to the late Leroy A. and Rose Ellen Dolan Desmond, she had been a Wallingford resident for many years and a Madison resident for several years until moving to Portland recently. An avid golfer, she had been a longtime member of the Wallingford Country Club, a member of the Wallingford Junior Woman's Club and a parishioner of The Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Doreen Mary O'Rourke and her husband Timothy G. O'Rourke of Wallingford, Shelby Brook Bisi and her husband Greg Bisi of Colchester; her two sons, Jeffrey L. Ahearn and his wife Carol Ahearn, with whom Eileen resided, of Portland and Daniel E. Ahearn of Wallingford: her 14 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; her two sisters, Mary D. Majeski of Michigan and Patricia A.(Mrs. Donald) Grogan of Florida; her brother, Leroy A. Desmond and his wife Nancy Desmond of State College, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Beth Eileen Desmond Ahearn, two sons, Michael P. Ahearn and Donald R. Ahearn, Jr. and a brother, Walter T. Desmond.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in The Church of the Resurrection.
