Honora Desmond Archer

Birth.
Honora Desmond, daughter of Jeremiah Desmond and Honora Desmond, formerly Cullinan, was born on 7 May 1881 at Bengour East townland [Newcestown] Co. Cork.
Her father was a Labourer.

James Archer and Hanora Desmond, were married in Devonport district, Devon, England, in Q3. 1914.
In the burial records of Glasnevin Cemetery concerning their daughter Marjorie [buried as Margaret Archer] James Archer was noted as a Police Constable.

Norah and her daughter Marjorie were civilian passengers on board R.M.S. Leinster which was sunk by torpedoes in the Irish Sea, 16 miles east of Dublin, shortly before 10am on the morning of 10th October 1918, on its outbound journey of 100km [68 miles] from Kingstown [now Dun Laoghaire], Dublin, to Holyhead, Anglesey, North Wales.

They were returning to England, having visited Norah's family in Newcestown, Co. Cork.
Norah's brother Denis Desmond, identified Marjorie's body, and had her buried in Glasnevin Cemetery.
Marjorie's grave is unmarked.

It is now thought likely that Norah's body was not recovered.
Her name is included in
