Wife: Laurel B. Blumberg Devon. They were married June 12, 1949.
Dr. Devon was a chiropractor for 49 years, retiring in 1998. He was a graduate of Canonsburg High School, Washington and Jefferson College, and Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He served in the Army during World War II. He is credited with risking his own life to save the lives of seven soldiers on the battlefield, for which he was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. He liked golf and bowling, and played the trumpet since he was 14. He played in the band of the father of singer Bobby Vinton, and also in the Army Band. He was a former member of the Jewish War Vets and Duck Pins Bowling League, as well as other bowling leagues. He was a member of Temple Hadar Israel and was part of conducting services for high holidays for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a niece, Renee Novick of San Francisco.Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Jesse Devon.
Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road.A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Rabbi Martin Shorr will officiate.Burial will be in Temple Israel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Veterans Honor Guard.Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Hadar Israel, 403 E.
