PORT HENRY, N.Y. — Jean Marie Dezendorf Breen passed away peacefully June 15, 2009, in Elizabethtown, N.Y. Jean was born in Ironwood, Mich., where she lived until moving to Port Henry, N.Y.
She lived briefly in New York City, and then married James Breen of Port Henry in 1946. They lived in Crown Point, N.Y., for many years, until moving to Europe in 1953, living in Germany, Italy and France. Upon returning, they lived in Farmingdale, N.Y., until retirement, when they moved back to Port Henry.
Jean was a graduate of Empire State College, attaining a bachelor's degree in French and later a master's degree in psychology. She was always an avid reader and had a love for learning.
Jean was predeceased in death by her husband of 57 years on June 17, 2003. She is survived by her three children, daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Sharyn Phuripan of Walnut Creek, Calif., Susan and Joe Brown of Queensbury, N.Y., and James and Terry Breen of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; her seven grandchildren, Brian and Jessica Phuripan, Connor and Kellan Breen and Bonnie, Elaina and Noah Brown; her great-grandson, Athanasios Polyzos; her sister and brother-in-law, John and Barbara Bailar of Washington, DC; and her nieces, Melissa and Pamela.
Services will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Harland's Funeral Home in Port Henry. On Monday, June 29, 2009, there will be an outside service at the Catholic Cemetery in Moriah at 10 a.m. with burial following.
