Sally Jeanette Dix Angel, 87, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away December 4, 2006. Born March 1, 1919 in Birchdale Township, Minnesota to John Sumnor and Lillian "Shobart" Dix. She was raised in Minnesota and in 1942 joined a U.S.O. Troupe as mistress of ceremonies, dancer and skit writer. This lead her to move to Chicago, IL in 1944. There she pursued a sales career and a radio and TV career doing commercials in Europe. In 1946 she met the love of her life, John Angel. They were married January 4, 1947 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Cicero, IL. In 1960 they moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she worked at Ryan Evans Drug Store. Sally enjoyed the comrodery of all the clubs she belonged to; Scottsdale VFW 3513 Honorary Boosters, Ladies Auxiliary of Scottsdale Elks Lodge #2148 and DAV Chapter 22, the American Legion Post 44 in Scottsdale and NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, reading, music and LOVED to shop. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Wayne Eugene Hesselgrave and brother Ferm Donovan Dix. Survivors include her husband John; two
grandchildren Marta Jeanelle Hendrikson and Mark Allen Hesselgrave; three great-grandchildren Elizabeth Hendrikson, Cory Hendrikson and Angela Hesselgrave. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 8 at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3801 N. Miller Rd., Scottsdale with interment at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale. Following interment, a reception will follow at the American Legion Post 44.
