Laura Dix Aiken, 78, of 18 Stephenson Ave., died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at her home. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Herley Edward and Pearl Taylor Dix. She was retired from Union Bleachery and was a member of Arrington Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, James H. Aiken; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Lawrence and Loretta Brooks, Aiken of Crescent Springs, KY., Richard Edward and Donna Shelton Aiken of Travelers Rest, and Michael Thomas and Faye Johnson Aiken of Greenville; two sisters, Mozell Dix Green of Seneca and Peggy Dix Brennan of Greenville; five grandchildren, Jason, Chad E., James L. Jr., Angela, and Jeremy S. Aiken; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Lee and Chance Aiken.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon St.; Greenville, SC or to Arrington United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3601 Old Buncombe Road, Greenville, S.C. The Family will receive friends today at 6:30-8pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home Sunday at 3:30pm with burial at Graceland Cemetery, West. The family is at the residence.
