SORROW COMES TO MANY HEARTS

ANGEL OF DEATH HAS ENTERED SEVERAL LE ROY HOMES

MRS. GRACE M. AIKEN

On Saturday afternoon at 12:05 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Grace M. Aiken at her bome on the corner of Myrtle and Clay streets. Mrs. Aiken had been a great sufferer from an incurable malady and death could be to her only a sweet release from weeks and months of suffering. She had undergone two operations, having submitted to the second one last October. This was undertaken as a last resort but disease had become so deeply seated that she received little benefit.

Mrs. Aiken was a woman of remarkably cheerful disposition, kind and thoughtful to others and who met the vicissitudes of life with fortitude. To the last she bore her sufferings uncomplainingly, her chief anxiety being for those who were called to care for her. For many years Mrs. Aiken cared most tenderly for her aged mother, Mrs. Dix, whose death occurred less than two years ago, Mrs. Aiken was born in Le Roy 59 years ago and in 1871 she was united in marriage to Charles D. Aiken, of Pauling, N. Y. There she resided for some time and later removed to Kansas where she spent a few years, returning to Le Roy about 27 years ago. She is survived by two sons, Wallace M. of Le Roy and Eugene D. Aiken, of Philadelphia. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. O. C. Towing, of New Rochelle, Mrs. Jobs Wiss, of Le Roy and Mrs. Charles Parsons, of Rutherford, N. J., the two latter here during much of her last illness.

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at five o'clock, from the late home of the deceased. Rev. Pierre Cushing, rector of St. Mark's church, of which the deceased was a communicant, officiating. The interment was made in Machpelab cemetery.
