Funeral services for Ms. Dorothy Evelyn Dixon Atchison, age 87, of Millry, AL, will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Millry, AL, with Reverend Bill Messer officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Millry, AL.
Ms. Atchison passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Washington County Nursing Home in Chatom, AL. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where she was a choir member and taught Sunday School.
She is survived by her daughter, Dora Atchison of Millry, AL; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Candler Atchison, son Rev. John Dale Atchison, father Leonard Dixon, mother Arrenia Mills Dixon, six brothers, and six sisters.
Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Holston, Wilson Dixon, Oscar Koen, Scott Holston, Sonny Dixon, and Russell Dixon. Honorary pallbearers include Jacob Holston, Mason Holston, Brandon Holston, and Ross Dixon.
