Anne Patricia Sleys Dobson , 88, of Stuart, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the Hospice of Martin & St. Lucie, Inc., Stuart.

She was born March 17, 1915 in Far Rockaway, New York and had been a resident of Stuart for the past 31 years, coming from New York City.

Anne graduated from Hunter College, New York City in 1935. She was in the first graduating class for women for the New York Police Department, working in Mayor Fiorello's LaGuardia's office at the 1939 World's Fair.

She taught elementary school at PS 40 in New York City for 16 years. She also taught school at St. Joseph's in Stuart for 2 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was the first president of the St. Joseph Guild.

She was a founding member of the Bargain Basket of St.
Joseph's Church. Mrs. Dobson was a member of the the Women's Club of Stuart and was most active in the Antiquarians.

She was on the Board of Directors for Cedar Pointe Village 8, Stuart.

She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1991 and by her son Jack in 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Pontani and her husband Ronald of Huntington, New York; her son, Mark Dobson and his wife Susan of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; grandchildren, Christopher Pontani of Claymont, DE and Sean Pontani of Cambridge, MA, a great grandson, Max Dobson of Brooklyn, New York.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 27th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stuart.

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Jensen Beach.
