Frank Taylor Donelson, Junior, 86, of Memphis, Tennessee, died April 12, 2010, at the Trezevant Terrace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Turner and Frank Taylor Donelson. Born April 9, 1924, in Memphis, Tennessee, he attended Miss Lee's School, Normal Training School and graduated from Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee in 1942. He entered Vanderbilt University in the fall of 1942, and joined the United States Navy in 1944. After his military service, he graduated from Vanderbilt in 1948, where he was President of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Mr. Donelson was active in the Memphis community as Chairman of the Memphis Housing Authority, member of the Girl Scout Board, member of the Draft Board and past President of the Insurors of Memphis. He was a long-time parishioner and Perpetual Deacon at St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a past member of the Memphis Country Club, Memphis Hunt and Polo Club and Osiris. He was an athlete his entire life, participating in tennis, running, biking and swimming. He medaled at the Senior Olympics in free style swimming. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Parker Donelson, his daughters, Helen Johnson Donelson, Mildred Donelson Huffman (Gary), Virginia Donelson Curry (Edward), his sister, Julia Donelson Ehrhardt and seven granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at St. John's Episcopal Church at 10:00 a.m Thursday, April 15 in the Parish Hall with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the St. John's Episcopal Cemetery. A reception will be held at Trezevant Terrace at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, St. Edward's Chapel at Trezevant Manor, Church Health Center, Alzheimer's Foundation or charity of the donor's choice.
