Mary Bell Downing, 85, of Clarksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at Westmoreland Place, Chillicothe.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1928 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Mitchell and Frances Wilburn Daugherty.
On March 17, 1945 she married Gene Downing, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1985.
Surviving are her two children; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; very special friend Ashley; sister of Portsmouth; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Austin, Lafe and Jerry Downing: one daughter, Judith Smith; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Wilda Daugherty and Barb Fite; and one brother, Richard Daugherty.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Ebright Funeral Home, with Pastor Woody Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown's Chapel Cemetery. Friends can visit with the Downing family at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
