DOWNS, Heide-Marie 70, of Enon passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011. She was born August 30, 1940 in Tapiau, East Prussia to the late Christel Hartel. Heide was a loving companion to her husband of 48 years, John O. Downs, a caring homemaker to her family and a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1966. Heide is survived by her husband; two daughters and sons-in-law, Monica (Jeffrey) Klarer of Springfield, OH and Margaret (Jason) Downs-Yasuda of Palm Springs, CA; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark (Cheryl) Downs of Yuba City, CA; a sister, Hedda Harriss; and 5 grandchildren, John, Sam, Amanda, Autumn and Allison. She is preceded in death by her mother. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1240 S. Maple Ave, Fairborn, with Pastor Arthur M. Casci officiating. A private burial will be held at a later time in the Dayton National Veterans Cemetery in honor of her husband's 21 years of service. Visitation will be held Monday, January 17, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM in Adkins Funeral Home, 7055 Dayton Road, Enon. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Heide's name to the Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Assc, 3797 Summit Glen Drive G100, Dayton, OH 45449 or to Bethany Village, 6451 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH 45459. The Downs family would like to thank the nurses, RCT's and other staff members in Orchardview and Woodview for their love and kindness during the 4 years and 3 months that Heide was a resident of Bethany Village.
