Emma Mae (Downs) Benson, 82, of Greenfield, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Edgewood Manor of Greenfield. She was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Fayette County, Ohio, to Lewis and Verna (Irons) Downs. She lived most of her life in the Greenfield community and enjoyed taking care of her family. She formerly worked at API in Washington Court House, Collins Packing Company and Greenfield Research.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Mike) Higgins, of Greenfield; a son, Gary (Robin) Benson, of Washington Court House; three grandchildren, Melissa (Randy) Bosier, Heather (Paul) Hess, all of Greenfield, and Holly (Shane) Dray, of Columbus; four great-grandchildren, Emilee, Dalton and Reagan Hess and Dylan Bosier, all of Greenfield; two brothers, Ralph (Pat) Downs, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Leo Downs, of New Martinsburg; five sisters, Kittie Overly, Elsie Shope and Lucy Cartwright, all of Washington Court House, Nancy (Bob) Ritter, of Circleville, and Elenore Newland, of Detroit, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley "Red" Benson, on Aug. 1, 1996; three brothers, Ferrell, Richard and Wayne Downs; and two sisters, Clara Lucille Carter and Vesta Downs.
Services were entrusted to Murray-Fettro Funeral Home of Greenfield, Ohio.
