Adam M. Draves, 95, of Gladwin died Sunday, March 24, 1991, at Gladwin Nursing Home. He was born July 9, 1895, in Cumberland, MD, son of the late Michael & Margareth (Spoerl) Draves. He moved to Midland County as a young child and attended schools in Midland. He married the former Merle E. LaFleur, May 10, 1922. She died, August 26, 1984. Draves worked in the pipe shop at The Dow Chemical Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1960. He was a WWI veteran, having served in France. He lived in Florida for 27 years, was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Florida.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barbara Draves of Edenville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen & Gilbert Brewer of Sanford, Dorothy & Robert Dahl of Sarasota, FLA., Dianne Miller of St Louis, MO.; one sister, Alice Schneider of Midland; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother and four sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday, March 27, 1991, from the Blessed Sacrament Church with celebrant Rev. Fr. Cornelius MacEachen. Burial will follow in Old Calvary Cemetery. (Lot 27 - SQ 1- SP 3 W) Military services will be conducted under the auspices of the Midland American Legion, Berryhill Post 165.
The family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever and Co. Funeral Home, 1220 W. Wheeler Road, today from 4-9 pm and Wednesday at the church from 10 am until the time of mass. A Christian Vigil service will take place at the funeral home at 8 pm this evening.
