Felisbela D. "VOVO" (Duarte) Bernardo, 96, of Old Mendon Road, and previously Geldard Street, passed away Sunday, June 3 in the Holiday Retirement Center, Lincoln.

She was the wife of the late Francisco Bernardo. Born in Açores, Celorico da Beira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Adelaide (Martins) Duarte. She moved to this country in 1931, settling in Cumberland.

Mrs. Bernardo was employed as a winder for the former Crown Yarn Dye Company for 10 years, retiring in 1980. She was previously employed by the former Blizzard Mills, Pawtucket, and the former Atlas Braid Company of Cumberland.

Along with her love and affection for her family, she was an avid gardener and seamstress. She was a member of the Portuguese Continental Union #12 of Cumberland.

She leaves her sons, Arthur Bernardo and Dennis Bernardo of Cumberland; her daughter, Beatriz Bernardo of Orlando, Fla.; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The celebration of her life will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Our Lady of Fatima Church, One Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
