"Damaris Duer was born in Trumble county, Ohio, November 15, 1823, died March 20, 1905, age 81 years, 4 months and 5 days. She was married to W.R. Botts April 27, 1845, to this union ten children were born, six sons and four daughters, all of which remain to mourn the loss of the departed except the father who died April 23, 1901, and one son who died April 2, 1900. In 1858 the family emigrated to Adams county, Illinois where they remained until 1869 at which time they removed to Guthrie county, Iowa where they resided until 1880 when they came to Exira and here the deceased spent the remainder of her life until two years agowhen she went to Oskaloosa, Iowa to make her home with her son, J.A. Botts, where she passed peacefully away."
"The last three months of her life her suffering was intense, but she bore her affliction very patiently waiting the coming of her Lord, oftern looking toward the future with a longing desire to depart and be at rest."
"She died in the triumphs of a living faith with a song of victory upon her lips. For many years she had been a faithful member of the Christian Church in Exira."
"The funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Exira, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. G.E. Nichols. A short and impressive service was also held at the home of her son J.A. Botts in Oskaloosa where the deceased passed away. The many friends and acquaintances of the bereaved family wish to extend their sympathy in this hour of bereavement."
