Georgeann Keufer Ayars (nee Duer), 84, of Bridgeton died unexpectedly Thursday morning November 21, 2002 at S.J. Hospital – Bridgeton following a brief illness.
The wife of the late Benjamin S. Ayars, who died in 1995, she was born in National Park and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie Strang Duer. A Gloucester County resident for many years, she lived in Blackwood and Westville before moving to Bridgeton sixteen years ago.
Mrs. Ayars was employed as a secretary at Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury before her retirement. In her younger years she worked for Dunn and Bradstreet in Philadelphia.
She is survived by one son, William J. “Tiny” Keufer and his wife Betty Jean of New Gretna and three step children, Angela Ayars of Cherry Hill, Merle Gifford of Bridgeton and Michael Ayars of New Brunswick. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis R. Keufer in 1990 and her first husband, William B. Keufer in 1972.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning November 25th at 11 o’clock at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton.
Rev. Dr. Edward E. Martin, rector of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Bridgeton will officiate.
The interment will be made at Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton, N.J.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday morning one hour prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested in Mrs. Ayars’ memory to either the church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
