Born Heinrich Wilhelm Duesenberg on 16 September 1863 to Konrad and Conradine (Potthast) Duesenberg of Kirchheide, Lippe Detmold, Germany. Mr. Duesenberg died in Germany in 1881. Henry immigrated to the US in 1884, living for a time with his uncle and aunt, August and Amelia (Potthast) Daake in Ulster Township, Floyd County, Iowa. His mother and siblings came to the U.S. in 1885.
On 15 December 1886, Henry married (M1) Margaret Baier; they had two children: Hulda Anna and Wesley Charles. After Margaret died, he married Eva Hix on 13 October 1898; they had six children: Howard Alvin, Esther Madeline, Edgar Milton, Milton Hix, Warren Henry, and Marie Margaret.
