Alan Dale Durham, 47, of Axtell, Kan., died Monday, April 7, 2014 at Manhattan, Kan.

The family will receive friends Friday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort, KS.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. The Rev. Norma Jeane Miller will officiate.

Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery.

Dale was born on May 29, 1966 at Rock Hill, SC, to Roger Crump and Diane Roberts. He graduated from Rock Hill High School and worked for the Williamette South Carolina paper in transportation and shipping before moving to Kansas. Dale worked at Koch & Company in Seneca for 14 years as a cabinet maker. He always said, "I had to move all the way to Kansas to find a job I really loved." Dale loved working with wood and building things. He was a volunteer fireman for 10 years with the Oakdale Volunteer Fire Department, Rock Hill.

He enjoyed helping friends and family when asked. He could always be counted on to help. Family was important to him. Any holiday with extended family made him happy. Dale's greatest joy, after his children, was fishing, no matter whether he caught nothing or the "Big One." He also loved to travel; he said his best times were on the truck, with his adopted dad, Earl and his mom, traveling across the U.S.

On August 25, 2012, Dale was united in marriage to Keri Radke at Marysville. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Diane Durham, Axtell; father, Roger Crump, Rock Hill, SC; son, Christopher Durham, Manhattan; daughter, Samantha Durham, Frankfort; stepsons, Ashton Dean Lacek, Oklahoma City, OK, Gavin Garmer, Clayton, NC; sisters, Linda Nizowitz, Henderson, NV, Shirley Kathleen, Wisconsin, Donna Deleigh, Indiana; brothers Earl Alan Durham Jr., Wisconsin, and Robert Earl Durham, Indiana.

Proceeding him in death is his adopted father, Earl Alan Durham in 2000; and grandparents, Rosa Lee Roberts, and Louis and Bertie Durham.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort, KS.
