World War II United States Army Air Corps Soldier. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps, and was part of the crew of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber "Enola Gay" when it dropped the atomic bomb "Little Boy" on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. He served as flight engineer for the mission.
