Mrs. Guinevere Eagles Allen, age 86 of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed away, Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Winn Parish Medical Center.

Mrs. Allen is the daughter of the late Ray Eagles and the late Muriel Newman Eagles. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Danny Doherty and one sister Rabie Reid.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband: Jehu L. Allen; two daughters: Mary Doherty and her husband WIllie of Winnfield, and Amy Allen and her husband Ronald Skains of Baton Rouge; one sister: Peggy Wood of San Antonio, Texas; one granddaughter: Dawn Johnson and her husband Bill of Atlanta, Georgia; two great grandchildren: Billy and Abby Johnson; and one step-granddaughter: Katie Skains. She is also survived by: a nephew Steve Wood of San Antonio, Texas and by a niece Beth Moss of Arkansas.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She was an artist and accomplished seamstress. Mrs. Allen was retired from Winn Parish Medical Center where she was director of social services.

Funeral services for Mrs. Allen, will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield with Reverend Norris Curry officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
