This community was saddened by the news of the death of Mrs Agnes Eastabrooks who passed away Thursday October 19 at the St Francis Hospital in Grand Island. Mrs Eastabrooks suffered a fractured hip when she fell at her farm home on Monday and was taken to the Grand Island hospital for treatment.

Agnes Rachel Eastabrooks was born June 20 1864 at Springbrook, Jackson County, Iowa and Passed away October 19, 1944 at the St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island Nebraska at the age of 80 years and 4 months.

She was the eldest daughter of Sarah and George Williams. She was married to Franklin Day Eastabrooks December, 24 1886 in Fillmore County, Nebraska. To this union wer born six children, four boys and two girls.

Her husband and one son Horace, one grandchild, one sister and one brother preceded her in death.

When about twenty years of age she united with the Brethern Church at Strang, Nebraska.

She moved with her husband and family to Litchfield, Nebraska in 1903 and spent the last 41 years of her life in this vicinity.

She lived a useful Christian life and will be sadly missed by her many friends and relatives She leaves to mourn her departure her five children. Ray, Maylon, Vernon Eastabrooks and Mrs. Hope Sheehan all of Litchfield and Mrs. Shirley Autzen of Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska; eighteen grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Five of her grandsons are in their country's service.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, October 22 at 3 o'clock at the Christian church conducted by Rev. Duane Dunning of Broken Bow. A mixed quartette composed of Mesdames Paul Givens, B. B. Grice and Messrs. Paul and Royce Chipps sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" with Mrs. Elmer Slote at the piano. Mrs. Givens sang a solo "Sunrise." The pall bearers were Messrs. M. H. Burtner, Fred Betz, George Haller, Jas Sinkler, B. B. Grice and Elmer Slote. Interment was made in the Litchfield cemetery.

Attending the funeral from out of town were Guy Eastabrooks of Hebron, Mr. and Mrs. Christy Peterson and Wayne, Mrs. Beulah Spangsberg and children all of Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Frazier, Bonnie and Billy of Fairmont, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. John Autzen of Ft. Calhoun, Nebr., Miss Margaret Autzen and Mrs. Mildred Jensen of Omaha, Miss Florence Stewart of Beaver City, Mrs. R. L. Fertig of Loup City, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hager of Gibbon and Mrs. Richard Dickerson of Grand Island.
