Esther Eastabrooks, age 97, of The Holmstad, in Batavia, Illinois, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2001 at her home. She was born on May 23, 1904 in Grand Falls, Minnesota one of the ten children of John and Laura (Hegna) Thorstad.
    Esther was united in marriage on October 17, 1930 in Sycamore, Illinois to Mr. John James Eastabrooks and they spent the next 64 years of their lives together until his passing on September 10, 1994.
    Mrs. Eastabrooks was a member of the Batavia Landmark United Methodist Church in Batavia, Illinois. Esther was, for many years, a registered nurse. She was, for over 23 years, the Cook County Director of Nurses with her office at the University of Illinois in Chicago. After retiring from nursing, she worked alongside her husband, John, in their Drug Stores in both Oak Park and Elmhurst.
    Esther is survived by her nieces and nephews; Marlys (Harold) Charles of Hancock, Minnesota; Merald (Helen) Thorstad of Morris, Minnesota; Margaret Jordan of Macon, Georgia; Coretta Sansonetti of Lombard, Illinois; Lyle (Donna) Knutson of Berwyn, Illinois; Laurence (Beatrice) Martin of Elburn, Illinois; Archie (Linda) Eastabrooks of Hinckley, Illinois; Cheryl (Tim) Salter of Hinckley, Illinois; Sue (Carl) Wassmann of Hinckley, Illinois; and Joann (Gerald) Skow of Sugar Grove, Illinois; also many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews throughout the country, as well as her sisters-in-law, Arlene Eastabrooks of Richmond, Illinois and Marge Eastabrooks of Polo, Illinois.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and her five brothers; and four sisters.
    Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, September 3, 2001 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple St. in Hinckley, Illinois. Interment will follow in the Miller Cemetery in Hinckley, Illinois.
    Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of Service on Monday, September 3, 2001 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, in Hinckley, Illinois.
