Mary Lou Edison Belvedere would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received an assignment, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This engagement comes with a huge sign-on bonus and a reunion with family and friends that Mary has not seen in a long time. Mary’s new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be gardening with the sun always shining. She will be painting with an endless inspiration from her favorite artists. She will be playing games with her previous four-legged companion, Lucy, by her feet. She will be shopping for hours on end with an unlimited line of credit earned from her abundance of mail-order catalogs. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce! And if that isn’t enough, every night is meeting night with Mary’s favorite sororities including the Red Hat Society member, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Leisure Ladies, and Elks Lodge #849 Ladies of Elk, past President.

Please know that she led a fulfilled life that included adventures that spanned throughout California and ultimately to her residence in Provo, Utah. Having lived in all those cities, she has filled her travel bags with an abundance of happy memories that she will take with her on her new assignment. Mary left detailed instructions for her husband and three children, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her good little boy, Snickers (a Yorkie), to celebrate her mission here. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated. Her only regret is that she could not take us on this final trip. However, she assures all of us that she will be our hostess, ready to greet with a twinkle in her eye and a, “Promise to keep a secret?” While we await that final banquet, please be reminded of her dedication, inspiration, and increasingly headstrong persistence. After all, this too shall pass.
