MODESTA DANEHY

Mrs. Thomas J. Danehy, 80, of 851 N. 13th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly
Tuesday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. A grandson,
the Rev. John F. Freerker, will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
The former Modesta Eisen was born Oct. 20, 1884(sic), at Fort Wayne, Ind.,
daughter of the late John Anthony Eisen and Katherine Sorg Eisen. (Step-daughter of William Suelzer). She was married to
Thomas J. Danehy Dec. 28, 1910, at Fort Wayne and the couple came to Manitowoc
in 1928. Mr. Danehy had been vice president and manager of Wisconsin Fuel and
Light Co. until his death in 1942.
Mrs. Danehy was a member of Christian Mothers Society of Holy Innocents Church,
Maryknoll Missionary Society and Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by a daughter, Miss Catherine Danehy, of Manitowoc and seven
grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death, Bishop Thomas J. Danehy, who
died Oct. 9, 1958, at Lima, Peru, and Dr. Robert Danehy, in 1947. Her son,
Thomas had been consecrated a bishop of the Cahtolic Church in a ceremony
Wednesday, April 22, 1953, at Holy Innocents Church and had administered a
region in Bolivia, South America.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary
will be recited at 7:30 p.m. by Maryknoll Missionary Society and Holy Innocents
Parish and at 8 p.m. by Daughters of Isabella.
Donations in Mrs. Danehy's memory may be sent to the new Manitowoc-Two Rivers
Catholic high school.
