Obituary for Andrew B. Eken Andrew B. Eken passed away at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 23 days Saturday morning, October 21, after having been in poor health the past few years, although he was not seriously ill until about two weeks before his death. Mr. Eken was born in Sogn, Bergenstift, Norway, on December 29th, 1856, and immigrated with his parents to America at the age of five years. They settled in Columbia county, Wisconsin, and resided there for three years. In 1864 they moved to Goodhue County, Minn., making their home there until in 1888, when they moved to Flom Township in Norman County. On September 21, 1889, he was married to Anna Hagen of Dalton, Minn., and to this union ten children were born, five of whom survive. In 1909 they moved to Twin Valley, where they spent the rest of their lives, Mrs. Eken passing away January 24, 1927. Mr. Eken leaves to mourn his death five children, Bernard, Constance and Mrs. Herbert Rinerson of Twin Valley, Hannah of Fargo, N. D., and Leonard of Roseau, Minn; six grand-children and two brothers, A. B. Peterson of Twin Valley and Ole Peterson of Sherburne, Minnesota. Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon from Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. C. W. Aanestad, interment being made in the church cemetery. Mr. Eken had lived in this community for many years and was well known to people of this part of Norman County who will extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
