Mrs. Rosa B. Ellison Burrell was the daughter of the late Sam Ellison and Sallie Bell (Willie Sr.) Watts. She was born January 20, 1947 in Columbia, South Carolina. She departed this life on July 14, 2017 at PruittHealth of Columbia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Burrell; sisters: Betty Jean Ellison and Josephine Gilyard; and brothers: Eddie James Brown and Joe Louis Ellison.
Rosa was educated in Richland County public schools. She was employed with White Oak Manor for many years.
Rosa leaves precious memories to her son, Anthony (Leasha) Ellison; daughter: Cindy (Eddie) Martin; her stepchildren: Andrew Burrell, Jr. of Austin, Texas and Dannie Burrell of Columbia, South Carolina; her sisters: Ruby-Mae Fanning-Mills, Barbara Smith, Nannie Smith, Katherine Robinson, Debora Livingston, Sallie Ann Hopkins and Deidre Goins, all of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers: Willie T. Watts, Jr. and Rudolph Watts of Columbia, South Carolina. She also leaves to mourn her passing four grandchildren: four step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: John Livingston, James Smith and James Robinson; sisters-in-law: Vernetta and Jaton Watts of Columbia, South Carolina and Evelyn Ellison of Elgin, South Carolina; her aunt: David Simpson of Ridgeway, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 3 PM at Bostick Tompkins Funeral Home, 2930 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203. Interment was on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 10 AM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
