She was born on April 4, 1923 to Elvin Leland and Alice Margaret Ensley in Walnut Grove, California and attended school in Courtland, California.
On July 4, 1941 Dottie married Henry "Hank" Alexander Bircher. During their marriage they lived in several states and Kwajalein, part of the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific.
When Hank retired in 1982, they moved to Brookings, Oregon where she resided for the last 31 years.
Surviving include her three sons, Larry A. Bircher of Brookings, Ore., Jerry L. Bircher and his wife Gayle of Folsom, Calif., and Henry L. Bircher and his wife Gloria of Ogden, Utah, six grandchildren, Melvin, Alice, Damon, Katherine "Katie", Ryan and Rebecca, and four great-grandsons, Andrew, Brandon, Jordan and Deegan.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband Hank, her sister Bernice Fay, and her brother Elvin Leland, Jr.
