Elsie was born in Baxter Spring, Kansas, on October 15, 1907, daughter of Ernest Ensworth and Lillie Mae Ensworth, nee Hogan. As a young woman she was married and had one daughter. On January 31, 1948, she married Charles Alva Hansel, known to most as Alvie, and their families were joined.
Elsie is survived by three children, Jilletta LeClaire and husband Henry, St. Clair, Norma Jean Gratzer and husband Jim, St. Clair, and Stanley Hansel, St. Clair; three grandchildren, Vickie Short, St. Clair, Rickie LeClaire and wife Chris, St. Clair, and Connie Gratzer, Clearwater, Florida; three great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great nieces and - nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie Hansel; and by two sisters, Edna Ganger and Loretta North.
Elsie was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. Clair. During her working years, she had been employed at International Shoe Company, retiring after 20 years of employment.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair with Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, St. Clair. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery, St. Clair.
