Mrs. Lila Roberta Cope, 85, of 575 Stonewall Jackson Blvd., Orangeburg, died Saturday afternoon, May 4, 2002, at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Thompson Funeral Home, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Cope was born July 31, 1916, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Henry Ethridge and Dora Dukes Ethridge. She was a member of the Rivelon Baptist Church, she was employed for a number of years at the Allied Dept. Store. In 1991 Lila Roberta Cope, was crowned as the first Ms. Senior Orangeburg. She was the widow of Walter Cope Sr. Survivors include son, Henry (Sparky) Cope of Lexington; three grandchildren, Robin Cope of West Columbia, Susan Williams of Orangeburg and David Cope of Orangeburg; and four great-grandchildren, Austin Cope, Dillion Cope, Justin Cope and Tiffany Williams, all of Orangeburg. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg. Friends may call at the funeral home.
