T Sacred to the memory of Herbert EVANS of Highmead, Esq., who departed this life on the 24th day of April 1787 aged 44 years, a truly honest man. By his wife Anne, daughter of the Revd. Watkin LEWIS, rector of Newport in Pembrokeshire, he had issue Thomas Lloyd [c.1770] Mary Anne [c.17711 John [1774] and James [1779] who died in infancy are interred in this church. Four sons and four daughters survive their father, of whom Thomas, aged 12 years died Aug. 17, 1787; John died in the island of St. Helena in the year 1799, aged 22 years; Eliza died June 3 1805 aged 36 years; Two sons and three daughters still remain a consolation of their mother, who caused this monument to be erected in the year 1807. On the 21st day of September 1807 the said Anne EVANS departed this life aged 69 years. ... she employed labour in converting into tillage ...
