"The Surrogate held a term of court at M. E. Baldwin's offices in Sehenevus on Thanksgiving morning having many sad features. About three weeks ago James Kildee. Jr. died, after a short illness, leaving a widow and six small children, the eldest being eight years of age. The deceased left no means to care for the widow and childien and, on Thanksgiving morning, one of the children aged five was adopted by Charles J. Newcomb, a brother of the widow; and a pair of twins, Earl and Pearl Kildee, aged two years were adopted respectively by Frank Fairchild and Emil Walter of Oneonta. the wife of each being a sister of the deceased. The mother was obliged to make a coupIe surrender of the children before the surrogate, and all present were deeply touched. The three children all go into excellent homes."
