DORRANCE, LOUSANNA—Mrs. Lousanna Dorrance, pioneer resident of Fillmore County, and the widow of James H. Dorrance, a Veteran of the Civil War, died Thursday afternoon, December 7, 1933, in Pershing Hospital at the Soldier’s Home, Grand Island. She had been seriously ill several days, complications attending her advance years, causing death.Born in Holmes County, Ohio, July 7, 1845, she was eighty-eight years of age.

As a young girl she moved with her parents to Iowa, where she was united in marriage at the close of the war to James H. Dorrance. Six children were born to this union.
Mr. and Mrs. Dorrance, as bride and groom, came to Nebraska, and settled on a homestead in Fillmore County, near Geneva.

She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was active in the Women’s Relief Corps, being past president of the organization.

Surviving her are two sons, Walter at Denver, Col., and Warren at Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Mrs. E. L. Saxon, Akron, Col., and Mrs. C. A. Wells at Lincoln, Neb; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. John Brower of Geneva, and a brother, Warren Fawell of Patterson, Ia.

Mrs. Dorrance’s husband and a daughter, Mrs. G. H. Gibson, preceded her in death and a child died in infancy.

The body was brought to Fairmont at noon Sunday, December 10, and services were held the same afternoon in the Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. J. Henry Stitt, officiating, and Rev. J. A. Martin offering prayer. Hymns were sung, Mrs. A. A. Ashby accompanying at the piano.

A good number of old friends of Mrs. Dorrance were in attendance, besides the numerous relatives. Pallbearers were W. T. Dewey, A. Noragon, Charles McFadden, T. W. Drummond, C. L. Cox and F. Maxfield. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
