Peter was born Pierre Faneuff 08 Oct 1859 in Tilbury, Essex, Ontario, Canada son of Joseph Phaneuf (1827 – 1905)and Julienne Beaugrand dit Champagne (1830 – 1903). Note the headstone has the birth year as 1858, but both the baptismal record and the death certificate have 1859. Peter's father Joseph was the brother of that Maxime Faneuff who lived in Walbridge, Ohio. Maxime's wife Ermine Beaugrand was the sister of Julienne Beaugrand. Ergo, Peter was a double first cousin of the Faneuffs of Walbridge. Circa 1893, several Faneuffs and Navarres went to Virginia to do logging [William and Rose Emma (Faneuff) Navarre's son Howard was born 21 Aug 1893 in Doran, Tazewell, Virginia, USA while William's brother Andrew Navarre circa 1893 married Susan White of Virginia; Maxime's daughter Alice Agnes Faneuff in 1895 gives birth to Bernice Virginia Millier in Virginia]. It appears Peter Fanneuf also went to Virginia, for on 16 Oct 1893 in Henry County, Virginia, USA Peter married Oney Crawford (1856-1920), daughter of Cary Ellis Crawford (1825 – 1862) and his wife Olive Jane Hancock (1818 – 1875). Peter died 18 Apr 1928 in Toledo, Lucas, Ohio and was buried 20 Apr 1928 at Cavalry alongside his wife Oney.
