Arlene Marjorie Faulds Adolphson passed away on Jan 4, 2011 at the age of 92.

She was born July 8, 1918 in Ivanhoe, MN. She graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1936, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from the University of Minnesota in 1942.

After passing certification exams, she worked as a medical technologist and X-ray technologist in California, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, and Seattle before moving to Bellingham, where she established a clinical chemistry laboratory.

In Bellingham she met and married Carl Adolphson, a chemical engineer at the Puget Sound Pulp and Timber Company, later owned by Georgia Pacific. They had three children.

Our mother was very active in the Women's Association of the Birchwood Presbyterian Church and in the Bellingham chapter of Church Women United, for which she served a term as president. She loved family gatherings and spending time with family and long time friends. She used her computer to e-mail family and friends, and to browse for news and recipes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her parents, Hugh and Bertha Faulds, and her brother, Dale Faulds.

A private burial service will take place on Jan. 10 at Greenacres. A memorial service will be held Feb 12 at 2:00 PM at Birchwood Presbyterian Church.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff at the Alderwood Park Convalescent Center for the care and compassion that Mom received during her last four years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to your favorite charity.
