As an infant and toddler, Nik was raised by his father, Dennis and grandmother, Mary Irene Posada, along with many loving aunts and uncles. After Dennis’ marriage to Mary Lou, Nik was blessed with a caring mom, grandparents in Marcelina and Manuel Mosqueda, an older brother, Gabriel, and a big sister, Stephanie. Brother Kenny Joe and sister Melissa later joined the family and they all became inseparable.
Nik enjoyed his large family setting and was known to being sweet, thoughtful and gentle. He was particularly fond of the ocean and made every opportunity to get to the beach to enjoy boogie boarding, riding his bike, and watching sunsets. Nik was also an avid sports fan and made every opportunity to watch the Dodger, Lakers, and Seattle Seahawks.
At the age of 18, Nik joined the Army and proudly served his nation. He later traveled and befriended people from across the country. During this period, Nik learned he carried the gene for Huntington’s disease and realized every moment of life was precious. Throughout his illness, Nik bravely faced his challenges. He taught us all about courage and dignity. He never complained about the suffering he experienced and always sought ways to live life to the fullest. As a result, he outlived all time estimates predicted by doctors.
Nik’s adventurous spirit will be missed. He was always loved and will forever be remembered.
