Kay Bilbrey, age 79, a longtime Olustee, Oklahoma resident passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 in Oklahoma City.

Kay was born in Olustee on March 28, 1937 to her parents L.A. Pete Fessenden and Laveria (Spiva) Fessenden. She was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1955 at Olustee High School. On April 9, 1955 she married her high school sweetheart Dale Bilbrey in Olustee and they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage together. After high school Kay and Dale moved to Altus where she worked as a clerk for DHS and in 1969 they moved to Duncan, Oklahoma and in 1975 they moved back to Olustee. Kay worked for Olustee schools as the secretary for many years until she retired in 2006. Kay was honored for her service to Olustee schools with the 2002 year book being dedicated to her. She was a longtime member of the Olustee First Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and singing in the church choir. She also sang solos at church and for funerals anytime she was called upon. Kay was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cake decorating and she always took great care of her family and all of the students at Olustee Schools.

Preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marion Murphey; Kay is survived by her husband Dale of the home; her daughter, Patti Hook and her husband Mike of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one sister Debra Borders and husband John of Altus; one grandson, Byron Hook and wife Charlotte of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Breanne Hook both of Stillwater; her mother-in-law, Mary Bilbrey of Altus; her sister-in-law, Sandra Parker of Norman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many friends.

The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday September 5, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Pastor Doug Altom officiating. Interment will follow at the Olustee Cemetery.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Olustee Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 306, Olustee, OK 73560, in honor of Kay Bilbrey.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
